"Shibori" is a Japanese dying technique that uses methods of twisting, pleating, and tying to give a cloth a beautifully dyed pattern.
Instructor Monica Andrea Yafuso will guide you through the beautiful and ancient process of pleating different patterns and dying a silk scarf so that you can walk away with your own that is uniquely designed by you and ready to wear.

Monica Andrea Yafuso is a textile and accessories designer born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She attended the University of Buenos Aires and Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC before residing in Texas. After working for 10 years as a full time handbag designer for a big company, she started "the year of MAY" to share her true passion for handmade items. The name MAY came from her initials that merge her two worlds together-- the South American where she grew up with her Japanese heritage. Her work is a true reflection of her identity.
